Black VegFest was founded by Omowale Adewale with the first event happening in 2018. Black VegFest reports that it was created in order to “consciously (support) Black people in every shape and form and using our voices to defend the defenseless animals.” Learn more about Black VegFest and its founder here.
Black VegFest also created a list of 7 points of Allyship for the White Vegan Community in Defense of Black Lives. This includes points such as Applying Vegan Ethics of Compassion to Black Lives in Defense of Black People and Respecting Black Spaces. You can read all of the points and take the pledge here.
