CRVN IS HIRING: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The Executive Director is a unique leadership position at Capital Region Vegan Network (CRVN), perfect for someone who is not only highly skilled in nonprofit administration but also deeply passionate about advancing a plant-based, community-driven mission. This role combines day-to-day operational management with long-term strategic visioning–an ideal passion project for a leader who believes in our cause.
Representative of Organization
- Act as an ambassador of CRVN’s values, igniting passion and building relationships with community partners, donors, and the broader vegan movement
- Serve as the face of the organization at internal and external events
- Seek out stakeholders and cultivate relationships with community partners and potential donors
Membership
- Lead effort to recruit, retain, and engage an inclusive membership
- Cultivate and manage relationships with perk providers
Management
- Together with the Personnel Committee, implement inclusive recruitment strategies to hire and retain talented, dedicated staff members
- Manage staff scheduling, time and attendance, payroll, vacation, and other related functions
- Oversee employee work product to ensure alignment with strategic plan, and that time is used efficiently
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment that celebrates our grassroots nature and leverages volunteer talent to amplify our impact
- Engage volunteers to contribute to the success of the organization
Administrative
- Manage day-to-day administrative operations, ensuring efficiency, accountability, and alignment with our long-term vision
- Data Management
- Manage donor, membership, and volunteer databases to ensure accurate and up-to-date records
- Communications
- Serve as the primary point of contact for staff, volunteers, vendors, and community partners
- Manage scheduling for meetings, Board sessions, volunteer events, and internal events
- Annual Member Report & Meetings
- Draft and distribute a comprehensive Annual Report to CRVN members, outlining our accomplishments, challenges, and overall progress
- Prepare and deliver presentations at CRVN bi-annual member meetings to review the organization’s work, strategic direction, and opportunities for community engagement
Event & Program Logistics
- Coordinate logistics for a variety of events—from small meetings and workshops to large-scale festivals—ensuring that all necessary permits, equipment, and supplies are secured
- Oversee event registrations, volunteer assignments, and follow-up communications
Operational & Legal Compliance
- Ensure timely completion of federal and state annual filings, insurance renewals, and other regulatory requirements
- Monitor and renew necessary permits, licenses, and insurance coverage
- Prepare and submit documentation required for grant applications and other funding opportunities
Board of Directors
- Attend and report at monthly Board Meetings and relevant committee meetings
- Communicate effectively and transparently with the Board and provide, in a timely and accurate manner, any information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions
Strategic Planning / Programming
- Engage in strategic planning and create a work plan to assure organization is on track to meet or exceed its goals
- Oversee implementation of year-round programming, including coordination and execution of major festivals
Finances
- Together with the Treasurer and Finance Committee, review and advise on the annual budget to ensure that CRVN’s financial planning aligns with our mission and operational needs
- Collaborate in developing and implementing funding strategies, including authoring grant proposals and identifying new funding sources
- Manage grant-related reporting requirements by drafting acknowledgment letters, preparing annual reports for funders, and ensuring timely and accurate submissions
- Process and track invoices, expense reports, and receipts
- Assist in the process of depositing payments and donations and ensuring that financial details are accurately reported through our internal channels
Compensation & Scheduling
- $27/hour
- Approximately 20 hours per week
- This position will be posted for 30 days
- Target Onboarding Date: Early April 2025
- This is a hybrid remote/in-person position: day-to-day administrative work can be completed remotely during mutually agreeable hours
- The Executive Director is expected to attend all CRVN-hosted events, which generally take place on evenings and weekends
- The Executive Director must be available for virtual board meetings and other ad hoc meetings, which are generally held in the evenings
A deep personal commitment to veganism is an essential requirement for this position. The Executive Director must be a practicing vegan whose lifestyle and values align with CRVN’s mission.
