July in Upstate NY is pure summer – hot, hazy, and humid! The best meals during these long midsummer days are ones that come together easily. To celebrate the quick, summer supper cooked on the grill there’s National Hot Dog Day, which is celebrated in late July. This year National Hot Dog Day is on July 22nd so we’ve rounded up a few of our favorite vegan hot dogs in case you’re interested in celebrating!
Best Option for Backyard Barbecues
Vegan hot dogs are easily found at your local supermarket or big box store. One of these affordable brands is LightLife. These soy-based hot dogs grill easily and are great for sharing with multiple people!
Best Option for Omnivores & Flexitarians
Field Roast Frankfurters feel slightly fancier and are sure to delight vegans and non-vegans alike. These hot dogs have a meatier texture given their vital wheat gluten base that will please any palette.
Best Versatile Option
Look to none other than Tofurky for the most versatile vegan hot dog option. These are great on the grill and loaded with traditional hot dog toppings, or any way that you please! Made with a combination of vital wheat gluten, pea protein, and tofu there isn’t anything that these Tofurky jumbo dogs can do.
Best Festival Hot Dog
At CRVN we’re big fans of YEAH DAWG vegan hot dogs, which you might have tried at Albany VegFest or last year’s VEG OUT. These hot dogs are for more discriminate eaters as they are soy-free and gluten-free. Check out their website to order or to see where YEAH DAWGS are sold.
Happy National Hot Dog Day to all #CapRegionVegans! What vegan hot dogs are you preparing today to celebrate?
