Capital Region’s Leading News Source: Times Union

About: The Times Union History

Located right in Albany, New York since their beginnings in 1856, The Times Union was originally founded as the Morning Times, a daily newspaper for the area. The company underwent multiple name changes and ownership, and then landed on the Times Union in 1924 following its purchase by Randolph Hearst.

Today, the Times Union is the “leading news organization in New York’s Capital Region,”1 focusing on all local news and reporting, but specifically on state and local government and politics. They have won many state and national awards for their work and created the area’s “fastest-growing network of business women”1 called Woman@Work, who publishes papers and hosts community and regional events.

You can access their news and reports through both print and digital platforms, click here to check out their website!

Veganism in the Times Union

Though it’s their specialty, Times Union isn’t only about politics. One topic they have discussed on their platforms and included in their reporting quite a bit is veganism! Their vegan news articles have included a variety of topics, such as new restaurants/products, events (like VEG OUT!), where you can go to get vegan food in the Capital Region, and more!
