Honest Weight Food Co-op is Albany’s community grocery store, and a hot spot for vegan items. With their full-service deli, daily hot and salad bar, all-organic juice bar, fair-trade coffee, expansive bulk department, grab-and-go meals, delicious baked goods, and wide selection of fresh fruits and vegetables; a visit to the Co-op never disappoints.

The variety of delicious eats and drinks offered by Honest Weight can be expansive, so you may have missed some vegan products within the store! Within this blog, we’ll share some items to look for if you’re vegan, newly vegan, or trying to incorporate more plant based meals/swaps (everything that’s sold is not listed below). We hope you find some useful shopping tips for your next trip to Honest Weight!

One of the first things we like to switch is our protein source, and Honest Weight is just the place to do that! With the Co-op selections, you can easily swap animal-based protein sources, for a plant-based protein that’s just as high in protein and delicious!

Whether you want beans found in bulk, tofu for a stir fry, or vegan meatballs to add to your pasta dish, the options are there! Below are a few brands we’ve found offered at Honest Weight that either provide vegan options or are fully vegan brands.

The myth that vegans only eat salad (unless that’s what you like of course☺️) is long gone. We’ve found that most non-vegan items can now be found vegan! And luckily if you’re local to the Capital Region, Honest Weight Food Co-op offers many of those products!
